Speak without notes: the Roman Room method

· Andrey Drobotin

🏛 This method is over two thousand years old. Ancient orators spoke for hours without notes: they walked through their house in their mind and “took” thoughts out of the rooms.

🚪 How it works: take your own room and pick objects clockwise from the door — door, light switch, wardrobe, window, radiator, table… These are your anchor places.

🔨 Place what you need to remember on them. Door — a hammer knocks on the door by itself. Switch — a nail sticks out of it. Wardrobe — an elephant climbs out and sneezes dust.

✅ The main advantage: in a chain, if one link drops, everything breaks. In a room — no. Forgot one? Go to the next place. And you can name the seventh word instantly.

📐 Split each object into three parts (wardrobe: top, door, bottom) — and 10 objects give you 30 places.

🎤 Use it for: speaking without notes, to-do lists, contract points, a lesson plan.

✍️ An exercise from the course module: make up a 7-point story about yourself, place the points around your room and tell it aloud without notes.
