What this book will give you

This book is for those who already read charts, their own and others', and want to go through the seventh house in depth. I have gathered here what I said about the seventh house at the intensive and on the basic course: the nature of the house and its names, its link with the sixth and the fifth, the maraka sthana, the planets in the seventh house and the expectations they create, the lord of the seventh, the seventh house for each lagna, the derived meanings by the bhavat bhavam principle and the D7 chart using my chart as an example.

What you will get:

  • the names of the seventh house and the law of Saturn, which is exalted in Libra;
  • how the seventh differs from the sixth and the fifth, and how the ninth opens through the seventh;
  • why the seventh house is a maraka and what to do with so-called toxic relationships;
  • karaka bhava nashaya and indicators of marriage in a male and female chart;
  • each planet in the seventh house and the list of expectations it creates;
  • the lord of the seventh: where I compromise, comparison with the lagna lord, parivartana yogas;
  • the axis of the seventh house for all twelve lagnas and the phrases that reveal each sign;
  • the derived meanings of the seventh house, each on a separate diagram;
  • the D7 chart (saptamsha): how to build it and how to read it;
  • a practicum for your own chart and for consultations.

Bhavat bhavam: derived meanings of the seventh house

House from house

The bhavat bhavam principle: to understand a house more deeply, count from it as many houses as its number. The second from the second is the third. The fourth from the fourth is the seventh. The seventh from the seventh is the first. This house shows how the theme develops further, where it will go, how it will echo. “As you call, so it answers.”

The seventh from the seventh is the first: if you have questions for your partner, go to the mirror.
The seventh from the seventh is the first: if you have questions for your partner, go to the mirror.

Seventh from the seventh: I am my partner's partner

The seventh from the seventh is the first house. If it is hard with a partner, look at yourself.

If you have questions about the seventh house, go to the mirror. I am my partner's partner. I choose my partner myself. If I have claims against my partner, I must first make them against myself. Don't try to fix your partner; you won't change them anyway. Fix yourself.

“My husband is this and that; he showed his best side, and then he changed.” But it was my inner attitude, my beliefs, my understanding of life that led me to this person. The partner is my mirror.

The seventh as the fourth from the fourth

The seventh house is the fourth from the fourth. Home, car, property through marriage.

Happiness in matters of home, housing and a car often depends on marriage. A person with an afflicted fourth house can get a flat and a car through a spouse. But if the marriage is unsuccessful, jointly acquired property is split in half, and part is lost. Rahu or other malefics in the seventh, especially Rahu in Taurus, put happiness in property in question. To improve the fourth house, work with the seventh.

The seventh as the second from the sixth

The seventh house is the second from the sixth. The partner supports in difficulties, illnesses and debts.

The partner is a source of inspiration and support when we face difficulties. If the lord of the seventh stands in the sixth, see which planet it is. The Sun helps through authority and connections, and in an unfavourable state gives pressure and health issues: the Sun is the karaka of health. The Moon gives emotional support or emotional conflicts. Mars — energy to solve problems, or disputes. Mercury — a reasonable solution, or gossip. Jupiter — wisdom or excessive optimism. Venus — harmony or excessive attachment to pleasures. Saturn — patience or coldness.

The seventh as the third from the fifth

The seventh house is the third from the fifth. The initiative to turn a romance into a union.

We talked about this in the chapter on the fifth house. In business it is the same: the knowledge and intellect of the fifth house lead to opening one's own business in the seventh.

The seventh as the fifth from the third

The seventh house is the fifth from the third. The future of my efforts, a support for initiative.

The third house is initiative, effort, the struggle for survival. The seventh is a support for these efforts. It is one of the houses of kama; here is a trikona. If the seventh house is strong, relationships become a support for one's plans. Rahu in the seventh can give bold contacts, work via the internet, connections with foreigners.

The seventh as the sixth from the second

123456789101112
The seventh house is the sixth from the second. Relationships as an item of expenditure.

The second house is savings. The sixth from any house is conflicts, debts, expenses. A partner can become a serious item of expenditure, sometimes the cause of loans. A person starts earning, and the relationship immediately “eats” this money. Love that costs money is the 6/8 link between the second and seventh. Look at the lord of the seventh: Venus gives spending on pleasures, jewellery, celebrations; Saturn — expenses on long-term obligations and loans; Rahu can give unexpected income through foreigners and technology, but also financial scams.

The seventh as the eighth from the twelfth

123456789101112
The seventh house is the eighth from the twelfth. Marriage as a test for renunciation.

The twelfth house is meditation, liberation, monasticism. For a monk an intimate relationship becomes the death of his status. Marriage is a crisis for the theme of liberation. There is a parable about a man who laughed at funerals and wept at weddings: at a wedding a new circle of attachments begins, and at death the soul gets a chance for liberation.

But together it is often easier for people to pursue spiritual life, because there is support. The scriptures distinguish two kinds of family life: grihamedhi — marriage for the sake of pleasures, for oneself, and grihastha — family life in dharma. One who lives only for sensual pleasures will not leave the wheel of samsara.

See which planets influence the seventh house. Saturn in the positive gives a quiet union where partners respect each other and solitude helps them mature spiritually; in the negative — loneliness, separation, coldness, expenses on the partner's treatment. Mars in the negative — conflicts, secret problems, unnecessary expenses, enemies because of the partner.

The seventh as the ninth from the eleventh

123456789101112
The seventh house is the ninth from the eleventh. Luck for fulfilling desires.

The eleventh house is fulfilment of desires, elders, easy money. The seventh as the ninth from it is luck for desires. Kama develops through the third house, passes into the seventh and only then into the eleventh. A successful marriage brings elder relatives on the partner's side who start to help. A good business is luck for income. All this was earned in the past.

The seventh as the tenth from the tenth

123456789101112
The seventh house is the tenth from the tenth. Relationships as the result of piety and a support of status.

The state of family life is the result of my past piety. Good relationships will give normal status: this is the work of my work. In ancient times a king could not be single or childless: before caring for the state, you must show how you care for your family. For a yajna the queen had to be present.

From the first day I was taught: if you have problems with your wife, you will have problems with business and with status. In the Vedic tradition the wife is considered the goddess of prosperity. A wife can inspire tenth-house successes, or undermine them if she constantly says: “You can't do anything.” It happens that a woman after divorce shoots up in her career. Most likely there was something abusive in the marriage, and it really was better for her to leave. But even then she builds new relationships — with business partners. Without relationships you cannot rise in status.

The seventh as the twelfth from the eighth

123456789101112
The seventh house is the twelfth from the eighth. Business as an expense for the sake of deep work.

I use this view often. The seventh house as business becomes an item of expenditure for the eighth: if I want to engage in research, secret knowledge, deep inner work, I still have to give strength to partnership. How chaos in relationships takes away vitality we discussed in the chapter on maraka.
