What this book will give you
This book is for those who already know the basics of jyotish and look at other people's charts or are preparing to. I work through the fourth house the way I did at the intensive and on the Ukrainian-language course: through the nature of a kendra, through the inner and the outer, through the lord of the house, the derived meanings, the planets in the house and the divisional charts.
What you will get:
- the difference between the third and fourth houses: two environments, two kinds of protection, two groups;
- the inner and outer layers of the fourth house and how to keep them apart in your mind;
- the lord of the fourth: where it carries the Moon, what it supports and where it hurts;
- twelve derived meanings of the fourth house, each on a separate diagram;
- the planets in the fourth house with practical examples;
- the link “the Moon — the fourth house — D4”;
- the fourth house in the divisional charts using my chart as an example;
- a practicum for your own chart and for consultations.
Derived meanings of the fourth house
Derived meanings reveal the house more deeply. At the lecture I gave one or two meanings for each position, but in fact there are more. For each meaning ask yourself: what should I do for this meaning to improve? The answer is always the same: follow the lord of the fourth.
Second from the third: fuel for effort
The inner state is fuel for the third house. A person with a weak fourth house goes out to sell, hears one refusal — “You know, I don't want to buy from you” — and gives up. With a strong fourth they try again. The fourth house supports long effort and the ability to carry things through to the end.
When bitcoin crashed, many people lost their footing completely: there was a material base, but no inner one.
Third from the second: the initiative of savings
The fourth house is the life initiative of blood relatives and the initiative of our savings. Savings “show initiative” and turn into a flat, a house, land, a car. That is why the lord of the fourth is used to see whether there will be money for real estate and where to look for it.
School education is here too. Our depression makes relatives suffer, and when children study well, it stimulates the parents. Inner restlessness wastes savings: “go out on the town, spend the last of it.”
In the Kali Yuga memory weakens. Books appeared when the mind became restless and stopped retaining knowledge.
Fourth from the first: happiness
The main meaning. With a strong fourth house a person does not need to look for a place where they will be happy: it is inside them.
Fifth from the twelfth: happiness as the fruit of meditation
Happiness is the child, the fruit of the twelfth house: meditation, solitude, charity, detachment, moksha, work with one's subconscious. The Bhagavad Gita says: can there be happiness without peace? Psychologists advise going on a journey after trauma — that is the twelfth house, and the person really feels better because they learn to overcome attachment.
But the twelfth house also needs to be lived correctly. Solitude is not loneliness. If a person isolates themselves from the world and feels emptiness, that is an extreme.
Sixth from the eleventh: the enemy of income
The big money of the eleventh house can become an enemy of inner happiness if a person does not know how to manage it. Of those who won a large sum in the lottery, about 99% quickly lost everything, and many got into the debts of the sixth house. Easy money tunes the subconscious: “I will always be lucky.” Straight away one wants a bigger car, a better house, more comfort — and the money goes.
The same with the patronage of elders: a person joins a party or a corporation, gets resources and protection, but submits to someone else's will. They lose the patronage — and the resources quickly disappear.
The more a person earns, the more they spend on the fourth house: on repairs, a car, education. Between the eleventh and the fourth there is a 6/8 relationship. If the inner world is unstable, any income goes as if into a canyon. Pessimism — “nothing will work out for me, it's hard for me” — is the enemy of earning: the person will not even reach the second house, let alone the eleventh.
The sixth house is at the same time an upachaya house, a house of growth. Check whether your fourth house is an enemy of income or whether you use it as service to the eleventh.
Seventh from the tenth: the balance of home and work
Seven is the scales. A person constantly balances between home and work, between the Moon of the fourth and Saturn of the tenth. They want peace and family, and the tenth house pulls them out into duties and status.
If the lord of the fourth is in the tenth, inner happiness depends on realisation. If the lord is weak, either the inner state suffers for the sake of career, or work collapses because of inner instability.
In China people sleep right at work; special armrests have even been made for them. This is a clear imbalance. Many say: “I feel so bad, I go to work to forget myself.” They run away into work from their inner emptiness and so cannot be at home. Want to feel good at work — work on your fourth house.
Eighth from the ninth: the father's inheritance
The fourth house is used to see inheritance from the father: whether there will be one, whether soon, whether it will be hard. For me it is rather hard: the lord of the fourth is in the twelfth.
The more comfort and security we want for ourselves, the more selfish we are, the more the father sacrifices himself. If a son has Rahu in the fourth house, the father will have to strain a lot: the child is always short of happiness, space, security. The father may take out a loan for a flat or a car. And if the fourth house is harmonious, the child is basically content with everything, and that is good for the father too.

Instead of the father you can take the teacher. A student's heavy fourth house strains the teacher: he spends a lot of energy on such a student.
